OUR MISSION STATEMENT
In response to the call of God, the United
Methodist Church of Berea is committed to follow the teaching and
example of Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the Good
News and grow as a fellowship of the people of God. We dedicate our
God-given talents to create and sustain an environment which enables
people to become new persons in mind and heart as we serve God in
the world.
OUR BUILDING
The Learning Center and Library
The Learning Center, located off the main hall
between the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall, is open for meetings
and classes throughout the week.
The Memorial Library, within the Learning Center,
exists to support the program and mission efforts of the church. It includes
approximately 2000 books including Christian reference books, inspirational
literature, books on Christian living, faith, and prayer. The United
Methodist Women have a reading shelf located in the library. Various
magazines and audio tapes of recent sermons are also available to borrow.
There are also many copies of Christian biographies and novels as well
as books to help youth and their parents face today's world from a
Christian perspective. The Helen Strasburg Memorial Children's library
is housed in the same room with an outstanding collection of children's
books. The library is open whenever the church is. There are easy-to-follow
directions for sign-out and return of books and materials.
Fellowship Hall
Our Fellowship Hall, at the back of the church,
serves as the gathering place for all our congragational activities
including potlucks and church festivals such as the Epiphany Feast,
Hosanna Festival, and Strawberry Festival. Special receptions and
parties may be scheduled here through the church office.
Special Needs
Electronic front doors and a lift/elevator in
the Fellowship Hall allow access to the entire first floor for all of
our members and guests. With several meeting areas available on this
floor, room schedules for classes and other group meetings can be
arranged easily to accomodate all participants comfortably. There is
also a main floor restroom that is wheelchair accessible. Hearing
devices and large print hymnals are available upon request for all
services. See an usher for assistance.
