Being More like Christ

Maundy Thursday

April 17, 2014

And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.  I have given you an example to follow.  Do as I have done to you.

(John 13:14-15 NLT)

Jesus and Servant Ministry

The disciples never expected Jesus to wash their feet.  We, like the disciples, want Jesus to see every part of our life, but not always the parts that are dirty and fragile.  God knew every detail about the disciple’s lives and God knows ours.  And yet, God approaches us, washes us, and tells us to GO and offer the same.

As Chaplain of OhioGuidestone, children and youth sometimes tell me that they are not worthy to receive God’s grace and forgiveness.  It is at this juncture, that I know that remarkable things are to follow for a young person through the transformation of the Holy Spirit.

When we are changed through the servant ministry of Christ, we come alive with a servant’s heart.  May Christ fill us anew and challenge us to do new things in His Name.
